Care Instructions

How should I care for my new jewelry?

Gold

In a small dish, soak your jewelry in warm, soapy water for 3-5 minutes then take a soft toothbrush and gently scrub to remove any buildup. We recommend using original Dawn soap. Brush softly to avoid damaging the texture of the gold and avoid chemicals when wearing your jewelry.

Sterling Silver

The oils in your skin help lubricate your jewelry and slow down the process of oxidation (darkening/discoloration); however, moisture causes sterling silver to oxidize quicker over time.  The more you wear your Alex Hossick jewelry, the longer it will keep its bright, shiny finish! We also provide a soft cloth with your purchase so if you notice your jewelry starting to darken you can buff the piece(s) with the cloth to increase shine. If your piece is all metal (no gemstones) you can also use a jewelry anti-tarnish paste/solution. Please ensure to follow the product instructions to avoid harm to your jewelry. Alex Hossick Collections is not responsible for any potential damage to your jewelry caused by said paste/solution.

Oxidized Sterling Silver

When wearing your oxidized sterling silver piece(s) you will want to avoid contact with chemicals and liquids, even salt water, which have potential to add a blue patina to your piece with prolonged exposure. To clean your piece(s) is quite easy as you can simply use the soft polishing cloth included with your purchase to buff the surface, bringing back the shiny lustrous finish without polishing away the blackened crevices.

Jewelry with Gemstones

If your piece contains gemstones you can clean your jewelry with warm, soapy water and a soft toothbrush. Avoid brushing pearls, opals, turquoise, and other soft gemstones as the toothbrush could affect the luster/finish of the stone. After cleaning rinse and dry your jewelry immediately.  Opals, turquoise, and pearls should be kept away from chemicals (including perfumes) and extreme temperatures.
